Opioid addiction is a very sad disorder it is so addicting i have had a few family members with this addiction and for one of them it led to very bad mental issues and another one it caused organs to start shutting down. The withdrawls of it are horrible also defiantly is enough of a reason for me to not want to do it as well has the health effects it has on you.
@paigebrickhouseiectskin-com This is so true I have had many people in my life go down this road and it is so sad to see and I hate the way people stereotype them as bad people when it simple is just a disorder and they need the proper help. I also never heard about it in high school but now it is such a common thing to hear about which is so sad because I never realized its so bad in my area.
@abigailcochraneiectskin-com It is very common in the service industry I have worked in a restaurant since I was 15 and there has been so many cooks and other staff that I've seen come and go that have struggled with addiction problems.
The opioid crisis is a very sad, and very real. I haven't personally had a loved one addicted, but have seen a couple of true story movies about big pharma and how they were pushing the Dr.'s to prescribe oxycontin. They were telling them lies saying it was not addictive. It had stories of many people suffering from addiction, and how it destroyed their lives, along with their family. I have heard that each time you take it, the next time you require more for the same feeling. So, so scary.
@alexisdozieriectskin-com I am so thankful that I have never gone down this road. It just takes one time, and you can be hooked.
Opioid issues are everywhere all the time from general misuse of opioids and how you got them. I remember there being a documentary about opioid use and how dangerous it is. If someone cant get it they will find a way and that way may not always be safe. It's something really addictive and hard to get off of, I can only imagine what the with drawl would feel like.
@melissalandersiectskin-com Many people don't know the full side effects and capabilities of drugs before taking them and it can turn out bad. Its important to know what all can happen because you don't know how your body is going to respond. From being in an accident and getting a prescription to fighting a battle you didn't know was going to start.
@camiryndavisiectskin-com Pain management should be taken more seriously and doctors should look into the patients history and patients should be fully open and honest to limit the possibility of taking a drug that is too much for them and getting dependant on them as well as making sure if they have an addictive trait that runs in their family or if they know that they will latch onto something.
I've had three rounds of kidney stones since August 2023. I can see how these pain killers get addictive quick, and the need to regulate them. As someone who struggles with anxiety, racing thoughts, and restlessness then when I had all that pain from the kidney stones passing.... IV fetanyl was the best and I can see how people get addicted. Its frustrating that it takes something like that for me to feel peaceful. I've learned a lot in my psychology classes about how addiction usually stems from some sort of trauma or mental illness, and we all know that mental health care in America is not cheap. I make no judgement on addicts. There are way better choices to make to deal with something, but I am not going to judge someones decision that lead them to addiction because there's always the "why" that I have never experienced. The signs of this will come in handy because we might notice this in a client. We will probably have clients that open up about their past addictions as well. Show grace.
@melissalandersiectskin-com Thats the most frustrating part- knowing there are doctors that say they aren't addictive. Thankfully, I've always had a warning about it.
@alexisdozieriectskin-com I have had a few family members addicted as well due to either pain management for surgeries or bone conditions, or due to mental health. A few lost teeth. It's sad and frustrating.
