Empowering, alluring, degenerate? The evolution of red lipstick
Red is a power color to me so this article describes women going back hundreds of years demonstrating power and strength. During World War ll lipstick was the number one cosmetic sold. Women everywhere it seems wanted something to look and feel better about. Long live red lipstick. I love it!!!
The color red to me is very bold, empowering, strong, daring its just one of those colors that sticks out and has a lot of meaning behind it. But yes the "red lip" look has been and seems like it will always be very popular, anytime red lipstick is warn it sticks out and shows the daringness. I cannot pull a red lip off I am not much of a lipstick person but power to all the women who wear it and rock it!
@gabriellemrasiectskin-com You could totally pull off red lipstick. We just need to find the right undertone for you. You should pair it with a cat eye and your amazing brows. That would be killer on you.
red lipstick was considered a modern look and women needed this distinction as contributing working women in an era where women generally only took care of the house, (no outside careers)
My mom always wore some shade of red even to go out grocery shopping
@deborah I agree! Women are strong and red lipstick will never go out of style!
Years ago ladies wore rouge and my grandmother had a red color. She applied it very well. She never left the house without rouge, powder, and lipstick usually a red or pink color. I have seen rouge products being used again and I bought one. It really was rouge not blush. Very little needs to be used and I really liked it.
Yes this is regarding my grandmother and her makeup

Even today i feel like sometimes when im wearing a bold makeup look and stared at. To me it makes me feel powerful and confident. Im not much of a bold lipstick wearer but i can agree with the concept.
@laurenjohnsoniectskin-com I dont think it will ever go out of fashion, it has definitely gone through trends of different shades for sure though.
I think everyone can where red if it's the correct red. I love the red/blue colors. The red corals are also high on my list of reds I can wear. Many people don't even try reds as they think they will not look good. There really is something for everyone
Red lip stick is such a powerful move. Going out and wearing a red lip stick you will stick out. I think its beautiful but not on me because my skin is fair.
@abigailcochraneiectskin-com It makes you feel some type of way when you wear it. Like your a boss!
Red is one of my favorite colors of clothing to wear. I also love a bold red lip. I feel so confident when I have red lipstick on. I feel like it is a major power move.
@gabriellemrasiectskin-com I dont wear lipstick often but when I go to ulta I always find myself gravitated towards the red lipsticks. If I could wear it everyday I probably would.
@abigailcochraneiectskin-com I feel the same way. I stick more to the natural side of makeup but when I do decide to wear a bold eye or bold lip I feel so confident.
I never knew about the history of red lipstick and it is very interesting! I do love wearing a red lip stick when I am feeling confident enough. Red is one of my favorite colors.
@abigailcochraneiectskin-com I hate that feeling when I try something different makeup wise and get stared at.
The color red describes strength and empowerment, it's always been a staple in the makeup community, red is a classic lip color & always will be.
@paigebrickhouseiectskin-com burgundy shades of red are my favorite!! it's such a bold classy color.
