I never really thought to compare the two... sitting is the new smoking, But that makes sense. Not moving can be just as harmful as smoking. We need movement, we need exercise. Great article!

I find it interesting that we are just as doomed by sitting as people are smoking. I can only imagine how worse off people are when they sit and have the habit of smoking. I always wanted a stand-up desk, but it seemed like they were only big for a short period and it wasn't marketed as much, so out of sight, out of mind.

@mikaylaalleniectskin-com Agreed. Our bodies need to move for circulation, and not just our bodies but also our brains. I find it interesting that earlier studies have shown that minimal movement has been linked to early-onset Alzheimer's. This is very scary and makes me want to get up and move right now.

@abigailcochraneiectskin-com I am with you on that one! I worked at home at my desk for 8+ hours, had two 10-minute breaks, and 30 mins for lunch. that's only moving 40 minutes out of eight hours. And then I would be mentally exhausted and go sit on the couch and watch TV. Not good at all.
