What? It is used to exfoliate the top layer of dead skin. It can be used on different parts of the body to reduce any unwanted pigmentation and even out skin tone and even reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Why? History It is s a procedure that exfoliates and removes superficial layers of dry skin cells. Microdermabrasion uses exfoliating crystals that are sprayed on the skin.

How it relates to the skin? It should only affect the stratum corneum. Noninvasive procedures either using crystals or diamond tip devices are used. It may help to reduce hyperpigmentation. Microdermabrasion exfoliates the skin using of fine crystals or a diamond tips. It was developed to improve acne scars, and some scars such as acne scaring.

Where does it typically occur? Microdermabrasion can be used on various parts of the body to exfoliate and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It can help pigment look more even. It works on all skin types. It makes subtle changes to the stratum corneum.

When? Implications It is a great procedure to help maximize the benefit of a regular protocol and keeps skin feeling smooth

What causes this? Fine grains (aluminum oxide or natural crystals) are sprayed through a hand piece with a vacuum suction tip. Diamond tips (tiny particles of diamonds embedded into tip) do not use crystals but the vacuum suction is still used. Some systems have suction to vacuum loose skin cells from the face. The procedure can smooth the stratum corneum.

How does it relate to the skin? As crystals hit the skin the stratum corneum they exfoliate the dead skin and crystals are sucked back through a filter. The same for diamond tip but no crystals are used. It uses tiny diamond encrusted exfoliating tips that on the skin and works best on problems such as dull skin, brown spots, and age spots.

Who benefits from this? After a client consultation and the client is a candidate for the procedure. A series is usually recommended for best results. Patients with fine lines, uneven pigmentation, or clogged pores can benefit from this treatment. It is an exfoliation and skin rejuvenation procedure that can leave skin looking softer and brighter.

How? Solutions (Machines / Mechanical) As crystals hit the skin the stratum corneum they exfoliate the dead skin cells. Pressurized crystals are focused at the skin thus exfoliating the skin.

How? Solutions (Non Mechanical) Manual Exfoliation and use of a hand held brush will also exfoliate the skin. Manual exfoliation utilizing a brush.
