The article states that the common misconception that cannabis is not addictive is incorrect; cannabis is a mind altering drug that is addictive and can interfere with daily functioning at work and in your personal life.
Cannabis when smoked will have the same effects on the skin as cigarettes. They release the same toxins and carcingens as cigarette smoke. It can also hamper collagen production and can worsen rosacea and psoriasis.
There is a fallacy surrounding the use of cannabis that it is harmless and non-addictive. The withdrawal of use has few harsh physical effects, unlike harder drugs. These can include a slightly elevated pulse, nausea, irritability that often the user does not associate with use. The psychological effects are much more detrimental and longer lasting. NIH has done several studies that suggest the brain becomes permanently altered over time and that emotional response and processing are diminished.
The reality is that smoking cannabis delivers higher levels of tar and 33 individual carcinogenic agents into the body. Smoking is also tied to an inflammatory response thus it can exacerbate acne, psoriasis, and eczema. One side effect of smoking or ingesting cannabis is "munchies". In an altered state, many people snack on unhealthy foods that directly impact the skin's health.
There are many chemicals in Marijuana. It can be very harmful to the lungs since the tar is greater than that of smoking cigarettes. When the leaves are heated they release free radicals which are harmful to our DNA. It constricts blood vessels.
There are negative effects to smoking cannabis because usually your smoking the flowers. If using this weed harmful products are getting into your skin. skin can become dry and skin problems like eczema can evolve. It speeds up the aging process which none of us need.
Heating the leaves releases free radicals which are bad for us. THC in cannabis may increase the persons testosterone level and that can cause acne or increase acne. The skin produces more oil. Hair loss or growth can also occur all over the body. People who smoke cannabis may seek out hair removal services of all types
Although cannabis has helping properties, it can be very addictive causing withdrawals. Some of the negative side effects are loss of appetite, depression, even aggression. It changes your mind and can cause many problems with school, work, and relationships. When someone is addicted to cannabis their body craves it and you create a tolerance . Also, it shows in the skin when someone smokes, like dull skin and clogged pores.
I agree with Doreen on this one especially about how it ties into an inflammatory response and how it constricts blood vessels. The article definitely did clear up for me that it can be just as addicting as any other drug however I feel like it is beneficial medicinally and can help replace more harmful and addictive prescriptions. But for regular recreational use it can be detrimental to the body if you do it on a repeated regular basis.
I do like your point of view. Recreational cannabis smoking is dangerous and with all the unknown additives added what will the person mind and body be like in 10 years if smoking is not stopped?
@virginiaduffiectskin-com Agreed. I have had friends and family members that had to smoke everyday. They all said the same thing when I asked them why they have to smoke everyday. They all said it was because it made them feel "normal." I also think that everyone's body reacts to everything differently. When I was a teenager I used to smoke with my best friend frequently. She has major anxiety and smoking made her 10 times worse. But back then we didn't even know anxiety existed.
@sgee The crazy thing is that I never knew any of these facts until I no longer smoked. I was a teenager and probably would not cared anyway, but knowing all of this now is just mind-blowing.
I think today's weed has way more chemicals in it than the weed from the 90's. I had friends grow it in just water, no dirt - hydro-weed and it was smooth and actually had a pleasant smell. Today's weed, OMG!!! It smells ratchet and I can't stand that everywhere me and my kids go, we smell it, even when we are in the car sitting in traffic.
I have seen the negative effects of smoking. It was very hard to watch. The nausea, vomiting, anxiety, weight loss. She couldnt eat without smoking. I believe it does have a place like helping a cancer patient, but other than that, I feel that nowadays it is grossly overused. I smell it everywhere.
@torimcneilliectskin-com Tori I agree that todays weed smells way different that it used to. Many times I don't know if it is a skunk or weed. I dabbled a little with smoking, but just never loved it.(thank goodness)
@torimcneilliectskin-com It is so scary to think about what is in drugs. Someone could easily lace it, and especially fentanyl.
@melissalandersiectskin-com Agreed. if you are going to be using it there is also a time and a place on where you should be using it, not everyone enjoys the smell of it just because you do.
I personally don't get effected if people some. I only say that if they are doing it respectfully, I do not like to smell it or be near the smoke when you are using it. I think it is very rude to be in a group of people not asking or anything and just light up. It can effect some people in very many ways.
I recently heard a podcast where a Psychiatrist was talking about treating individuals for anxiety and depression. Her old method was to prescribe a medication. Now, she asks the person about their lifestyle and if they are smoking pot. If they are, she recommends they quit for 4 weeks. She said that nearly every time, their symptoms of anxiety and depression go away on their own with the quitting smoking. I'd say it would be worth a try if one is suffering.
@torimcneilliectskin-com I agree Tori! I cant tell if it is a skunk or weed! There used to be something back in my old days called skunk weed. I think that meant it wasn't good. hah
@torimcneilliectskin-com If only we had the more mature brain back then we would have probably chosen not to smoke!
I think the chemicals in marijuana now a days are making it not healthy and putting things into it but people being codepended on it is not healthy
@torimcneilliectskin-com 10000% agree with weed having more chemicals loaded into it nowadays.
I think weed is completely different nowadays than it has ever been before. There are so many different types to smoke and all of them seem to affect you or the next person differently.
